Hello Dolly!
Woodroffe High School will be showing yet another theatric production that will be ready to overwhelm the audience with their finesse. "Hello, Dolly!", based on Thornton Wilder's "The Matchmaker", is one of Broadway's most beloved and entertaining musical comedies. The story follows the adventures of the irrepressible Dolly Levi as she meddles her way to true happiness for all in her path when she decides "to rejoin the human race" after years creatively eking out a living alone. This comic masterpiece has some poignant and powerful things to say about the celebration of life and there may be a misty moment or two amid the gales of laughter when Dolly sets out to embrace life, love and opportunity anew. The audience will leave humming such memorable classics as "Before the Parade Passes By", "Put on Your Sunday Clothes", "It Only Takes a Moment", and, of course, "Hello, Dolly!". More importantly, the audience may find they have been given a dose of fresh and infectious optimism.

Once again Woodroffe High School will be hosting the Ottawa District Sears Drama Festival Tues. April 6th, Wed. April 7th, Fri. April 9th and Sat. April 10th at 7pm. This year schools from the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, the Ottawa Catholic School Board and the French Language School Board will be presenting one act plays of a variety of genres and styles. This year Woodroffe's own entry is a student written, student direct production of Shellshock, a post apocalyptic love story between a woman and her dead husband. Tickets are $5 a night or $7 for a four day festival pass and are available at the door.
